2nd class (Standard)

With a standard ticket you can pick up hot and cold drinks as well as snacks from the Café Métropole, the onboard bar buffet. The menu and meals are adjusted according to the time of day. You are also free to pack your own meal and drinks and enjoy them on the train.

1st class (Standard Premiere)

When travelling 1st class (Standard Premier) a meal will be served at your seat. The price is included in your ticket. Vegetarian dishes are available when the request was made at least 24 hours in advance of your trip.

Business Premier

A luxurious three-course meal is served to all Business Premier travelers. Vegetarian meal requests must be made 24 hours in advance of your trip. Please note meals aren’t served on journeys between Brussels, Lille and Calais.


When traveling from Amsterdam to London you will transfer trains in Brussels South - Midi. You can choose to travel with either Thalys or with Intercity Brussels for the first leg of the journey.

Between Brussels and London you’ll travel in a Eurostar train and can choose between three travel classes.


The 2nd class coaches in Eurostar trains are called ‘Standard.’ With a standard ticket you are expected to check in at least 30 minutes before departure.

Standard class offers comfortable individual chairs and a drop-down table. In the newer Eurostar trains (e300 and e320), every chair has its own power socket. Free Wi-Fi is available during the whole journey on the newer trains. Some older Eurostar trains feature power sockets, but not at every chair and there’s no Wi-Fi.

Standard Premier

1st class coaches on the Eurostar trains are known as ‘Standard Premier.' With a Standard Premier ticket you are expected to check in at least 30 minutes before departure.

Standard Premier class offers dedicated coaches with spacious seats, guaranteed power sockets, and a calm atmosphere. Complimentary cold meals, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, are served at your seat. Standard Premier travelers also receive complimentary magazines on board. Like all travelers, you can enjoy free onboard Wi-Fi on the newer trains.

Business Premier

For Business travelers Eurostar offers ‘Business Premier.’

Business Premier travelers can check in ten minutes before departure through dedicated Business Premier check-in gates. You’ll also have access to the Business Premier lounge in Brussels, which offer snacks, drinks, a range of magazines and newspapers, as well free Wi-Fi access.

The Business Premier class offers dedicated coaches with large and luxurious seats, guaranteed power sockets, and a calm atmosphere. Business Premier travelers also receive complimentary magazines on board. Like all travelers, you can enjoy free onboard Wi-Fi on the newer trains.

Each adult can bring up two pieces of luggage up to 85cm long, as well as one small piece of hand luggage. There are no restrictions on liquids like on airplanes. Baby carriages or prams travel for free in addition to your luggage allowance. Simply fold it and store it in the luggage rack above your seat.

Children with a booked seat can take 1 piece of luggage up to 85 cm long and 1 piece of hand luggage.

Luggage racks are available in every coach. You therefore don’t need to store your luggage above your seat.


  • Many Eurostar seats offer European power sockets (220v, 2 pins) including Standard and Business Premier travelers and for everybody on newer trains. Seats in Business Premier and Standard Premier also have their own USB socket
  • Hot and cold drinks, as well as snacks, are available at the Café Métropole, the onboard bar buffet
  • Free Wi-Fi is available throughout to all passengers on newer trains
  • Connect to the entertainment library on newer trains through your personal device to enjoy TV programs, movies, news and more
  • Toilets, wheelchair accessible and otherwise, are available on each train
  • Baby changing facilities are available in select bathrooms
  • Wheelchair users can travel in the comfort of their own chairs by choosing for a wheelchair user fare

Eurostar Offers 2nd class (Standard), 1st class (Standard Premier), and Business Premier tickets. All tickets include an automatic and obligatory seat reservation. There is no reserved seating or check in when traveling from Amsterdam to Brussels, for your connection to London, with the Intercity Brussels.

There is reserved seating, but no check in, when traveling with the Thalys. Children under 4 travel for free when they don’t require a separate seat. Tickets can be purchased 6 months in advance.

Flexibility Levels

All Standard and Standard Premier tickets are exchangeable before departure. This is determined by availability. In addition to a fixed ticket changing fee of €40 for Standard tickets, or €50 for Standard Premier tickets, the traveler is also subject to pay the difference in price according to the available fare on the day of the exchange.

The Business Premier ticket is fully flexible allowing free exchanges and refunds before and after departure. If your plans change, a Business Premier tickets includes a ‘boarding guarantee’ ensuring you will find a seat on the next train that suits you.

Checking in

Check in with your ticket and your passport or identity card when transferring from Brussels to your final destination London. When travelling with children, including babies, they will each need their own passport. There is no check in the first leg of your journey from Amsterdam to Brussels with either the Thalys or the Intercity Brussels.

Check in must be performed at least 30 minutes before departure time. On the weekend and during bank holidays it is recommended to come at least 45 minutes before.

Business Premiere travelers have dedicated gates and can check in 10 minutes before their departure time.

At the check-in gates, you scan your barcode on your paper ticket or through your mobile phone. There are also check-in desks available should you require assistance.
